Some cheap smart glasses are a security disaster      [Sep 23rd, 2026]
ABC Australia reports the main problem they uncovered with cheap smart glasses was insecure Bluetooth pairing: If the glasses were powered on and not connected to their owner’s phone, an attacker could connect first, with no password or meaningful pairing confirmation. After connecting, an attacker could reportedly control the glasses to capture photos or recordings, copy existing media, and intercept data moving between the glasses and the phone. An attacker could also make another device appear to be the victim’s glasses, allowing it to connect to the owner’s mobile app.

Paris prosecutors launch probes into non-consensual filming of women with smart glasses.      [Sep 22nd, 2026]
Paris prosecutors said on Tuesday, September 22, that they opened several probes after receiving complaints about women being filmed on the street without their consent using smart glasses. Anyone wearing smart glasses can take photos, film videos, listen to music, make phone calls, translate text, or interact with an AI assistant. Meta's smart spectacles, developed in partnership with Ray-Ban maker EssilorLuxottica, have become a commercial success. Meta sold seven million pairs in 2025. Other companies, including Google and Snap, are also preparing to roll out AI-powered glasses.

Everyone's Leaving Windows!      [May 19th, 2026]
According to "The Register" Firefox version 151 is out of beta and trickling out to users, with handy additions, just in case you were thinking of jumping ship from Windows 11 to Linux. Mozilla has officially released Firefox 151, although automatic updates are not yet happening at the time the register wrote their article.
